How to Replace Halogen Lamps

Halogen lamps are light bulbs that are brighter and last longer than incandescent bulbs. They contain halogen gas that suppresses the consumption of the filament and emits a stable light with a high color temperature. But over time, halogen lamps can also become dim or broken. In that case, you need to replace them with new ones.

1. Prepare the necessary tools and bulbs

To replace halogen lamps, you need the following tools and bulbs.

  • A new halogen lamp

When buying a new halogen lamp, make sure it matches the specifications and power of your vehicle. For example, a halogen lamp with H7 specification, 12V, 55W is suitable for Samsung Motors SM520 LE. Also, choosing a product with E1 mark, which is a European certification standard, will not cause any legal problems.

2. Disconnect the power connector

Before replacing the halogen lamp, you must turn off the ignition and switch the headlamp to OFF. And you need to disconnect the power connector at the back of the headlamp. The power connector is well secured, so use a screwdriver or pliers to carefully disconnect it.

3. Remove the halogen lamp

After disconnecting the power connector, you need to remove the halogen lamp. The halogen lamp is fixed by a cap and a clip. Detach the clip from the cap and remove the halogen lamp from the socket. Be careful not to touch the glass part of the halogen lamp. If there is any foreign matter on the glass, it can be damaged by heat.

4. Install a new halogen lamp

After removing the halogen lamp, you need to install a new halogen lamp. The installation method is the opposite order of the removal method. Insert the new halogen lamp into the socket and secure it with a clip and connect the power connector. Wear gloves to avoid touching the glass part of the halogen lamp.

5. Check the replacement result

After completing the replacement of the halogen lamp, you need to check the result. Turn on the ignition and switch the headlamp to ON and check if the lamp lights up. If it does not light up or is dim, it may be a stabilizer failure. In that case, please consult an expert.
