Types of Fuel Injectors

Functions of Fuel Injectors

Atomizing the fuel means breaking it up into tiny droplets that can mix well with air and burn completely.

Some fuel injectors also have additional functions such as cooling, heating, or shaping the fuel spray. Cooling the fuel means reducing its temperature by using a heat exchanger or a vaporizer. Heating the fuel means increasing its temperature by using an electric heater or a glow plug. Shaping the fuel spray means adjusting its angle, pattern, or direction by using different nozzle designs or valves.
